The search for the perfect mountain vehicle continues. Either a jeep (an old jeep) or a pickup. Not one of those shiny new highway cruiser trucks… I mean a truck. Beat up and virile under the hood. Something that you wouldn’t mind suffering a few scratches climbing up a steep narrow road. Something that could climb a steep narrow road to begin with without smelling the transmission. If a worthy Willys jeep in a CJ2 or its later family incarnation the CJ5 doesn’t present itself, Im thinking of a big old 1970's era GMC or Chevy stepside 4 wheel drive.  Transfer case selector on the floor, none of this new fangled electronic dashboard nonsense.  My Uncle Bob used to have an International Harvester pickup with a dump body bed which could go through anything, which in Antrim, New Hampshire meant rocks. The thing was a beast... it even knocked out my brothers two "I" teeth.. true story. But the holy grail of backwoods trucks is right here … if I won the lottery, I'd buy one of these.. they only go about 45 mph top speed… and they are hard to find:
