Fail. Isnt that what the kids say when something has fallen short of the mark ? In this case it's a technology fail. My new fangled Smart Phone let me down. On the whole it's an amazing device. More computer capability than the Apollo 11 moon rocket or so Im told. Ive never had a Smart Phone before, and I must admit, despite being a technically challenged middle aged male, it is of tremendous help with my workday. But….. this past weekends time change stumped its little circuit brain. I often use the phone's alarm function as a backup to my bedside alarm. I wake up very early to host The Morning Report here on WWNC. Sunday night, I went to set the phone alarm as I usually do and due to the time change, the 2 am hour did not exist in the alarm edit field. It featured two 3 o'clock hours which must be how programmers outfitted the darned thing to accommodate and realize the shift from Easten Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time. The regular time stamp updated just fine… but the alarm function was under the impression that the 2am hr on Monday morning didn’t exist. It probably remedied itself once we crossed midnight into Monday, but that didn’t help me at 8pm bedtime. In essence, technology fail. Im keeping a running account in a world increasingly blinded by science.
