Whats with the auto complete function on smart phones and computers ? To many, I imagine it must be a timesaver, but few things aggravate me more. If I want to type a word, I know what I intend to type, and will do so. I don’t need to delete 2 and 3 suggestions based on popular choice. If I don’t disable the function, it takes me a whole lot longer to type even a text message. I find my self speaking to the phone , politely saying "No, that’s not what I wanted." That’s what I say the first time. By the third auto complete interruption, I have a few choice words which cannot be printed here. It's just not for me. Again, if I want to type a word, I know what it is, and I will type it myself. To get back at modern technology, I do however enjoy using the voice activated search feature on my Google app. If you say Asheville clearly, you get Asheville. But… if you recite a litany of nonsensical gobbledygook, that’s where the fun begins. The computer in effect "auto - completes" my non sensical words. Kinda makes you think, eh ? Glad these things aren't entirely managing the missle silos… yet. In addition to the inconvenience of auto complete - what other digital horrors can we find ? Look at this ... some geek went ahead and invented a whole new alphabet.
