Congratulations and thanks offered for a fine performance on the part of our resident fireflies this summer. I guess down south y'all call them "lightning bugs" although it sounds more like "laahhhtnin buuuugs". In any case, just after nightfall there have been literally dozens of the benign and pleasant insects flicking and flashing their lights. I could watch them for hours… they appear as if constellations in the sky, although constantly in motion and with an entirely random frequency. Their numbers begin to dwindle now as we approach August, but for the first few weeks of July… Bravo ! Well Done !
