Indulge me to share another aspect of my recent mini vacation to Charleston. It’s a beautiful city no doubt, its wealth is extraordinary, and the civil war era weaponry in place to protect that wealth is impressive. Speaking of which, if you care to make the connection: I also paid visit to the Slave Market Museum. For a period of time prior to The Civil War, The Port of Charleston I learned accounted for nearly 40 percent of all slaves brought into this country from Africa. Sorry if you're perhaps getting a little uncomfortable that I would bring up race, let alone an unspeakable travesty of treating people like animals. I mean you're not responsible, right ? No… but mankind was, and thus "is" in my eyes.
