We've got a new segment on The Morning Report on Newsradio 570 WWNC which you may find of interest. In keeping with our "Labor Day - After The Fact Theme" the new segment honors people who work a particular profession. Just a casual shout out at some point each morning to let bus drivers, plumbers, firefighters, school teachers know they are appreciated. Each day a different profession, or even pasttime will be honored. I cant take credit for the idea, its not mine. It was a decades long institution on the radio in New York City with legendary DJ Dan Ingram. It was one of the pleasures of my life to be able to work alongside Dan Ingram for a total of 10 years at WCBS FM. I worked during the week at the all news stations in NY and on the weekends (yes, I worked a lot) I would have the opportunity to read the news for Dan. Ive been in the business 25 years and grew up in the business to boot, and there is nobody better. Period. Dan, now retired, was the granddaddy of them all. A class act too, through and through. I hope he doesn’t mind me ripping off his idea. Likely he will be happy to see the tradition live on, albeit in a diminished state on account of my meagre talents which pale in comparison. Thanks Dan for believing in me and helping me along all those years ago. Here's some brief footage of Dan doing his irreverent but entertaining thing, some years after his heyday.
