Fall has come to call. The leaves are most certainly changing color now across the mountains. Speaking of color, poison ivy leaves now begin to change, serving as a signpost to migratory birds. In what is perhaps one of the more surprising familiar pairings in the world of nature, did you know poison ivy is related to the mangoe ? It is. Also the cashew nut. Next time you're in the grocery store take a look at a mangoe. Note the colors as the fruit ripens, green to yellow and red. Note the colors. Now, look at the leaves on a poison ivy vine as they change color. Same colors… spot on with specific hue.
