Just under 3 weeks till Halloween. Clap for "The Wolfman". No, not Lon Chaney. Robert Weston Smith. Who ? Wolfman Jack. Once upon a time I missed an opportunity to work with Wolfman Jack by about a month. WCBS FM in New York would host what were called "Rock n Roll Radio Greats Reunions" every few years. There was one in 1995, which featured Wolfman Jack shortly before he died (at his home in North Carolina in fact) I was hired in 1994 but wasn’t working the special that year and didnt get a chance to read the news for him. I was afforded the opportunity to broadcast as a young greenleaf (comparitavely) alongside other industry legends in 1998, but by then he was gone. Nobody, and I mean nobody had the rock n roll radio ramble down like Wolfman Jack. "Clap for the Wolfman, he's gonna rate your record high…. Clap for The Wolfman, youre gonna dig him to the day you die"….. "Hey kid, have a popsicle"…..
