I'm not sure what this survey says about a dude's ability to recall important dates on the calendar.  But what is does show is that there is a rational reason why I usually offer to drive when my wife and I go on trips.

According to a report at Jezebel.com, we men are a bit better at remembering where we park our vehicles.

When it comes to spatial memory—the part of one's memory responsible for navigation—there appears to be an inherent difference between the sexes. According to a study published in the journal Applied Cognitive Psychology, men and women use different methods for remembering where one object is in relation to another—and the process men use seems to yield moderately better results.

It's all about spatial memory, apparently.

I think this spatial stuff is also the reason why Christy gets very nervous when I merge and pass other cars in traffic.  Her female brain is telling her we're about to die in a fiery crash because there cannot possible be enough room to make that Petty-esque move.

I, on the other hand, use my spatially-fantastic male brain to accurately measure the distances and speeds, allowing me to arrive at that next stop light two cars ahead of where I would otherwise have been.

How did researchers discover this?

They sat outside a mall with a large parking lot and asked shoppers as they were leaving to describe where they parked their car and to estimate the distance.

Women used landmarks to describe where they parked, while men remembered by distance. It turns out men were more accurate, and of the 14% of shoppers who were totally lost, most of them were women.

Now, defenders of the ladies might say, "Wait!  The women go to the mall more often, so it's easier to mistake where they parked THIS time."  Which actually isn't really a defense, if you ask me.

But before the dudes start gloating...

While this study—which was conducted on 115 people—finds that men excel over women at spatial memory, previous studies have found that women are better at "verbal episodic memory," like words, objects, and everyday events. Women are more emotionally attuned, and thus, can remember things like what was said in conversations and what the people having those conversations were wearing and how they smelled.

So, women will forget where the car is parked, but remember what you said about their best friend in 1998.

Men will forget the day they were married, but will track down your Toyota on Black Friday.

Futher groundbreaking evidence that men and women are, in fact, different.
